This is my passion

Born in the south and raised in the northeast, I spent a little over a decade in the U.S. Navy before, sick of the long days, I gave up my uniform for a camera… and even longer days. An introspect with a penchant for people watching, naturally I aimed my lens at the most fascinating, and difficult to capture, subject of all – and thus began my career/obsession with portraiture.

After moving to New York City in 2011 I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the School of Visual Arts. My first international photography experience was spending a summer shooting for modeling agencies in Milan. A year later I returned to Europe to spend 7 months studying photography and art history at the Paris College of Art. I have been fortunate enough to work with and study under amazing people such as music photography legend Clay Patrick McBride, London fashion photography original Michael Daks, and NYC’s own An Le on campaigns for Balmain, Vogue, GQ, and others.

However, beyond all of those experiences I’ve always found the 1 on 1 connection of personal portraiture to be the most fulfilling of the arts. When a subject can be stripped down, not just in the obvious sense, but both aesthetically and emotionally, there is where you will find true beauty.

Complimenting my visual obsession is a proclivity for wandering.. I have traversed 6 continents, sailed across 3 oceans, and have been through 42 of the 50 American states. I call home wherever the majority of my cameras are, which for now is Brooklyn, NY.
